“You’ve gotta be made for this.”
Grammy-winner, Ashley McBryde, is keeping the hype train going for her upcoming album, The Devil I Know, with another brand new song. Made For This is the fourth pre-released song off of the 11-track album which includes Light On In The Kitchen, Learned To Lie and The Devil I Know.
McBryde took to Instagram last Friday to announce the song’s release in a Reel. Keen fans of the One Night Standards singer anticipated the song’s release due to her posting #MadeForThis with a snippet of the song on many of her recent posts on the app.
Made For This feels like a natural follow-up to McBryde’s career reflective tracks such as Girl Goin’ Nowhere, Never Will and Hang In There Girl. In her signature blunt nature, she gives a very honest reflection on being a musician and living life out on the road.
Throughout the verses, she notes all the highs that come with her status whether it’s the spotlight hitting her just right, signing autographs or hearing the crowd sing her songs back to her. However, the chorus serves as a brilliant juxtaposition to the highs present in the verses, noting the downs that come with living on the road.
“‘Cause most days you’re stuck in a truck
One day break from blowing up
One of these days you’re gonna get a buzz
And let somebody else drive
But right now it’s just Adderall, alcohol
The dressing room is a bathroom stall
But you turn it on when the big man calls
‘Cause he ain’t gonna call you twice
And it’s calling home for a telephone goodnight kiss
Man, you’ve gotta be made for this“
The Devil I Know releases Sept. 8.
