Another one.
Last month, Charles Wesley Godwin released his first major-label debut album, “Family Ties.“
Coming in at a hefty 19-tracks with an over an hour runtime, the record features some of Godwin’s best music to date. While my opinions have shifted with multiple listens, one track that I still just absolutely love is “Another Leaf.”
A solo write by Godwin, the song has a certain spark that begs you to roll the window and bask in the musicianship present on the track. The tempo changes, the incredibly melodic chorus and the final breakdown in the latter half of the song make it feel like a must-have on any of Godwin’s live shows. The euphemism, “add another leaf on the tree tonight” is such a fun, unique way to say “let’s make a baby” while still tying (no pun intended) the theme of family together.
Not even a full day after releasing a live version of “Dance In The Rain” to his YouTube channel, Charles posted another similar video for “Another Leaf,” with The Allegheny High, live from Echo Mountain, and it’s safe to say that calling it incredible would be an understatement.
