One helluva combination.
Last night, Ella Langley brought out fellow Alabama natives Muscadine Bloodline during her Dandelion Tour stop at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, and the three teamed up for a killer performance of the duo’s underrated 2018 single “Enemy.”
Muscadine Bloodline, made up of Charlie Muncaster and Gary Stanton, recently joined Langley on the road as direct support for three dates after her good friend (and “Loving Life Again” co-writer), ERNEST, decided to step away and take some time to focus on his mental health.
During Langley’s set, the boys made their way back to the stage and Ella joined ’em on “Enemy,” a slower, stripped-down favorite from Muscadine Bloodline’s catalog that was pretty much tailor-made for a voice like hers.
This isn’t the first time Ella has performed this song, however. In fact, some would call this a full-circle moment as Ella actually uploaded a video of her singing the track back in 2019 – long before “Choosin’ Texas” or “You Look like You Love me” were even a thought.
Call me crazy, but I could see this type of song fitting right at home on Ella’s debut album, “Hungover.” With that said (and of course I’m gonna say this), we NEED a new studio version with these three together for my Spotify playlist. I can hear it now – Ella taking the lead on a verse or two while Charlie and Gary do what Muscadine Bloodline does best and stack those killer harmonies behind her. Shiii, let me produce it right now.
Anyway, Muscadine only has two more dates on the road with Ella — tonight in Pennsylvania and tomorrow in West Virginia. So, there are at least two more chances to make this happen again, and preferably with somebody near the soundboard smart enough to record the damn thing.
Until then, I’ll just keep campaigning for a studio version. Here’s to hoping this isn’t the last we see of the three together. Check out their performance below.
