Well, well, well, would you look at that?
The select group of Ella Langley naysayers who have seemingly made it their personal mission to question the 27-year-old hitmaker are finally coming out of the woodwork to show her some support. Apparently, all it took was one indication that she might not be as “MAGA” as some have assumed, and suddenly they’re jumping on the bandwagon.
I’m sure by now you’ve seen the slew of righteous pop fans who either A. claim they’ve never heard of Ella Langley, B. discredit her success by labeling her an “industry-plant,” or C. automatically assume she’s some crazed, conservative “MAGA”-loving radical. Insanely enough, outside of the country world, not everyone is “Choosin’ Texas,” especially the aforementioned groups.
While Langley’s chart-topping success continues to be celebrated throughout the country community and beyond, her growing star power has also made her an easy target for criticism. Even after spending a record-extending 24 weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 and surpassing Mariah Carey’s previous mark, there are still plenty of people willing to find just about any reason to discredit her. But in case anyone needed the reminder: no, Langley is not an “industry plant,” and no, she has never publicly revealed her political affiliation.
That hasn’t stopped people from interpreting one of her latest social media moves as a possible hint, though.
Speculation once again began after Langley removed her tag from a recent post by Kristi Noem that dragged her into a political comparison with Kacey Musgraves. In response to Musgraves publicly supporting James Talarico at her Dallas show, Noem tweeted out, “I’ll take @ellalangleymsic over Kacey Musgraves any day. And if I’m choosin’ Texas, I’ll take Ken Paxton over James Talarico.”
To which Musgraves ruthlessly clap-backed, “I don’t think you have a dog in this fight, but if you did, you would have shot it.” Langley untagged herself from Noem’s original tweet, and also “liked” Musgraves’ recent post from her Austin show on Instagram.

The once-viewed “MAGA” star, Langley’s response has fans now assuming that her support of Kacey in the drama means she’s left-leaning. And with that “confirmation,” it also means they can apparently safely support her and listen to her music:
Plenty of people online are now seemingly flipping the switch on the Alabama native, suddenly declaring their support and apparently running to stream her October 2025 hit single because of it. Who knew that’s all it took?
While I’m so glad that the rest of the internet has finally come around to the fact that Ella Langley is a stellar artist, let this be a reminder (for the 100,000th time) that someone’s likes, follows, tags, or other social media activity are not a direct declaration of their political beliefs. No one can definitively confirm Langley’s political stance based on any of this.
And honestly, I have a feeling Langley simply didn’t want to be dragged into a political debate or pitted against another artist, especially Kacey Musgraves who Langley has openly credited as an inspiration since the beginning of her career. But who knows, maybe all this discourse will finally earn her an extra 25th week at the top of the Billboard Hot 100.
