I just discovered that apparently, Riley Green and I have one more thing in common…a love for Facebook Marketplace.
Who would’ve thought that the triple threat singer-songwriter, actor, and Voice coach was also an avid lurker on Facebook’s popular resale platform? Now I know what he does in his free time when he’s not hunting or performing to crowds of screaming fans.
A Panama City Beach local, Shane Allen, was shocked to say the least when he met up with the Facebook Marketplace buyer of his recently listed acoustic Gibson J-45 guitar. The owner of Front Beach Softwash posted about the encounter to his business profile on Facebook, sharing that the impromptu meet-and-greet came to life after he hesitantly listed the guitar: “Didn’t really wanna sell this girl, but thought I would throw it on Marketplace. When I got to the place that I agreed-upon meeting spot, it turned out to be Riley Green himself who was interested in buying it.”
Usually when you list something online, you have to worry about meeting up with potential psychopaths and scammers, but Allen apparently got the luck of the draw, meeting up with the “Jesus Saves” singer, rocking an interesting pair of denim cargo jorts. For those who may not know, Green’s an avid PCB vacationer often seen visiting the local beaches, fishing spots, and popular bars like Tootsies.
The seller was touched by the down-to-earth interaction with the Alabama native, expressing his gratitude, “This guy didn’t have to meet up with this regular Joe. Heck, he could have sent anybody to buy my guitar! Instead, he invited me to meet him and look at guitar.” And at least it made the transition of selling his precious baby a bit smoother knowing it was falling into good hands. “When I seen that he was the one buying it, well it made selling it feel a little better.”
Heck, Allen’s guitar might even be an aid in producing Green’s next penned track or find its way on stage at one of his shows on his 2026 Cowboy As It Gets Tour. He added that he hopes Green puts some well-deserved wear and tear on the 2018 J-45 standard six-string soon: “I hope to see him throwing them pick marks on her soon.”
He also joked in the comments of his post replying to one user asking why Green wouldn’t just buy one from the dealer directly, saying, “My guess is he just wanted to hang out with me because I’m so cool. On a serious note, he plays the same one, so maybe a backup or just likes to buy guitars.” The only question I’d like answered is if Green is a true Facebook market savant and tried to pull any low-balling tricks on Allen before meeting up or not.

Green will head back to the stage this Thursday, August 13, in Camden, NJ, potentially with his new marketplace treasure in hand, as he continues out on the remainder of his 2026 tour wrapping up on December 10 in Las Vegas.
