From Ella Langley to Noah Kahan and Turnpike Troubadours – Wyatt Flores Names His Dream Artists to Collaborate With

For both Wyatt Flores and his fans’ sake, let’s all pray these dream collaborations eventually become reality.

The 24-year-old Oklahoma native recently sat down with Dale Brisby for his podcast, The Rodeo Time. If you’re unfamiliar with the show, Brisby has featured an impressive lineup of fan favorite country artists in recent weeks, including Dylan Gossett, Evan Felker, and Sam Barber. Adding another Red Dirt staple to that list, Flores joined the bull-riding pro to discuss his rapid rise in country music, life on the road, and the creative process behind his songwriting.

Toward the end of the interview, Brisby asked Flores, “Do you have any dream collabs?” In fitting fashion for the mixed-basket sound country artist, Flores’ answers spanned a wide range of influences. He name-dropped Jason Isbell, Noah Kahan, Turnpike Troubadours, Sturgill Simpson, and even Post Malone. He also mentioned “Texican rock ’n’ roll” band Los Lonely Boys, best known for their 2003 hit, “Heaven.”

“My list kind of goes everywhere,” Flores explained. “Lost Lonely Boys, but I don’t even know if there’s if they’re all around anymore. I heard that some of them might have been deceased. Don’t quote me on that, but someone told me, and I was too scared to look it up because I didn’t want my dreams to, you know, fall apart.”

Good news for Flores and his Los Lonely Boys aspirations: all three brothers appear to still be alive and touring. So, if the stars ever align, there’s still hope for a future collaboration.

Some of Flores’ other dream pairings also don’t seem far-fetched. Both Malone and Kahan are no strangers to collaborations. Malone released his largely duet-based album F-1 Trillion in August 2024, featuring 15 collaborations. Similarly, Kahan dropped Stick Season (Forever) in February 2024, which included appearances from Kacey Musgraves, Hozier, Brandi Carlile, and Post Malone, among others.

As for Turnpike Troubadours, Flores spoke about his relationship with the band during the podcast, including the surreal experience of opening for them on their 2025 Wild American Tour and even joining them onstage during their set. Who knows, that touring relationship could eventually turn into a recorded collaboration.

Brisby later expanded the question, asking, “What about a female artist?” Put on the spot, Flores hesitated before listing several standout acts, including Ella Langley, Noeline Hofmann, Lainey Wilson, and finally Alison Krauss. Langley, who’s poised for another breakout year ahead of her upcoming album Dandelion (releasing on April 10), has actually already shared the stage with Flores. At a show in Oklahoma City last January, Flores filled in for Riley Green during Langley’s performance of “You Look Like You Love Me.”

As of right now, Flores has two collabs under his belt. One with friend and fellow singer-songwriter, Evan Honer, on “Take Me As I Come,” and he’s joined by sister trio, the Castellows, for “Sober Sundays.”  He also revealed that there was nearly a collaboration with BigXThaPlug that never fully came together.

He hesitantly tells Brisby that he auditioned to be a part of Big X’s country-rap project, explaining,“I was supposed to be on his album. The one that he just released a couple months ago. It was supposed to be the Darius Record song.” He added that he later learned multiple artists were being considered. “We never heard back, and then all of a sudden I get on there, and I’m like, ‘Darius? What? That’s not me.’”

Still, there’s no hard feelings considering it’s pretty hard to beat a country music standout like Darius Rucker. ”I was like, “Oh, okay. Never mind.” But it’s Darius Rucker, so I can’t, I’m not even mad about it.”

While a BigXThaPlug collab didn’t quite pan out, this upcoming year is quite an exciting one for the “Please Don’t Go” singer, who is opening for country music legend George Strait in May and heading out in late March on his headlining Drive All Night Tour. Brisby also teased new music on the way at the end of the episode, saying, “Everybody check out Wyatt Flores got an album coming out in 26. Not sure exactly when.” So who knows, maybe one of these names mentioned isn’t just a dreamed-up idea for Flores but a soon-to-be-announced reality.

Watch the full episode, below. You can skip to 59:32 to watch where they discuss BigXthaPlug’s record, as well as Wyatt’s dream collaborations.
