Last night, Luke Bryan took his Country Song Came On Tour to a crowd of nearly 11,000 in Rogers, Arkansas, at the Walmart AMP. Despite treating fans to smash hits such as “Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye,” “Crash My Party,” “Drink a Beer,” “That’s My Kinda Night” and more, it was clear that the former ACM Entertainer of the Year was struggling vocally throughout the night.
This was highlighted best during his solo, piano-backed performance of “Tennesee Whiskey” when it became abundantly clear that the “Play It Again” singer simply could not perform at the level he nor fans expected. During the song, he even joked with the crowd, saying, “Chill out. The worst thing I can do for my career is, on a night that I can’t sing, do a Chris Stapleton song,” before asking them to sing along.
Shortly after the “Tennessee Whiskey” performance, Bryan addressed the crowd once again, noting that he frequently loses his voice while playing at the Walmart AMP, “I’m gonna get real with y’all. This is the weirdest thing I’ve ever dealt with in my life. I cannot have my voice in this venue for some reason, and it happens every time. I don’t know why, but you guys keep showing up year after year to see me put on a show.”
Referencing when Luke Combs refunded fans after losing his voice back in 2022 during a performance in Maine, Bryan decided to follow in his footsteps, offering a full refund for everyone in attendance, “I saw Luke Combs do this a couple years ago when he was having a weird night on stage. And I said, ‘You know what, that’s pretty cool.’ So I don’t give a damn, I’m going to refund everybody their tickets tonight. And we’re going to keep doing the damn show. We’re just going to make this what it is. I don’t know why they have to do this every time, but y’all can hear. We’re gonna make the most of it. Let’s do it.”
After receiving a roar of cheers from the crowd, Bryan did, in fact, make the most of it, finishing off the rest of his set with hits such as “Country Girl (Shake It For Me),” “Drunk On You” and “Rain Is a Good Thing.”
