In celebration of National Tequilla Day, Chris Stapleton, has teamed up with none other than Kendall Jenner and her tequlla brand, 818 Tequilla to promote their new collaboration: the Calabasas Cowboy Cocktail Kit.
In case you weren’t aware, 818 Tequila was founded by Jenner back in 2020 and is named after the area code of Calabasas, California where Jenner grew up. Working closely with local, family-owned farms in Jalisco, Mexico, the model and entrepreneur has noted that its main focus is sustainability.
In celebration of the collaboration between Jenner and Stapleton, 818 posted an eight-minute video of the “Maggie’s Song” singer and Jenner swapping stories, mixing drinks and sharing ingredients for cocktails.
Stapleton, who is no stranger to the world of liquor, famously collaborated with Buffalo Trace Distillery on the aforementioned Traveler Whiskey. Talking about the collaboration with Buffalo Trace, he said, “I’ve been a fan of Buffalo Trace Distillery, particularly master distiller, Harlen Wheatley. I had a lot of people approach me to do whiskeys over the years because I sing about that a lot. When this popped up, it was the absolutely right thing to do because I’m such a fan of Harlan, and here we are.”
Despite the unlikely pairing, Jenner and Stapleton actually have a bit of a history. Being a self-described big fan of the the 10x Grammy winner, she described a funny story of breaking not one but both heels of her boots the first time she saw him in concert, “I had on these snakeskin vintage boots that I’ve had for a little while that are some of my favorites. I wore them to his show that nightm and I just dancede my butt off. Both my heels came off.”
She’d later note how Stapleton’s wife and frequent collaborator, Morgane, gave her the pair of shoes she was wearing that night in Nashville before he signed her broken boot at the end of the night.
Throughout the video, the pair also shared a plethora of different cocktail recipes including the Repasado Old Fashion and the Calabasas Cowboy, with the latter combining both Jenner’s tequila and Stapleton’s whiskey.
