Imagine my surprise when I opened up Ella Langley’s most recent Instagram post and found five-time Grammy Award-winning rapper Drake in the comment section.
A lot of Langley’s fans were equally shocked by the unexpected nod from the Toronto superstar, who left the “Choosin’ Texas” singer a supportive shout-out underneath her photo dump from her string of shows in the Lone Star State this past weekend. It was a pretty epic back-to-back lineup of three sold-out arena concerts across Austin, Corpus Christi, and Fort Worth for Langley, as she wrote in her caption, “Texas forever…I’ll never forget these shows.”
Drake unexpectedly left a comment saying, “Goated Pen,” basically complimenting Langley’s songwriting skills. While this very well may be just one highly successful artist complimenting another currently dominating artist for her undeniably incredible lyricism on her chart-topping hit “Choosin’ Texas” and fan-favorite album, Dandelion, many others can’t help but jump to conclusions.

The replies to Drake’s comment are filled with people begging for a collaboration and speculating that the two have been secretly cooking something up. Not to mention a number of Ella Fella’s warnings to “champagnepapi” that he needs to stay away from their ‘wife.’

The nod also comes just a few hours after Langley went viral on TikTok after lip syncing backstage to Drake and Lil Wayne’s 2011 hit, “HYFR (H*ll Ya F*cking Right).” Langley opted to film herself mouthing Lil Wayne’s iconic verse, “Do you love this sh*t? Are you high right now?” but you never know; Drake might’ve been flattered by the nod and taken it upon himself to reciprocate the love in her comment section.
And while the crossover would surely break both the internet and the Billboard charts, unfortunately, I think for now these two’s limited online interaction is purely wishful thinking. After all, it was only just a few months ago that Morgan Wallen fans were also fooled into thinking he was going to be featured on Drake’s Iceman album as well after online rumors had been stirred up, and you can see how that one turned out.
For now, Langley’s riding out the high of her most recent collaborations, including her radio-hit “I Can’t Love You Anymore” with Morgan Wallen and the most recent “Jaded” with Koe Wetzel. She’ll also return to the stage yet again this weekend for a show on Thursday night, August 20, in Green Bay, WI followed by a Saturday night, August 22, show in North Little Rock, AR.
