Out of this year’s nominees, Morgan Wallen has Jason Aldean’s vote to win the sought after ACM honor, Entertainer of The Year. Calling Wallen “the hottest thing going” in country music, Aldean showed support for fellow artist and friend, amidst the chaos he’s been apart of in the last few weeks.
This barely comes as a surprise to fans, especially since it isn’t the first time Jason Aldean has had Morgan Wallen’s back. Following Wallen’s short-lived “cancelation” in 2021, Jason Aldean was one of the first in the industry to speak out in the rising star’s favor, defending and supporting him as he received what Aldean called an “excessive” amount of backlash.
In a 2022 Billboard interview, Aldean shared his thoughts on the situation again, stating “There was a small group of us that kind of had Morgan’s back in this whole thing, when everybody else was beating up on him a bit.” He went on to explain how Morgan Wallen would likely learn from his mistakes, and that he’d have Aldean’s support along the way.
Fast forward to present-day, and Jason Aldean is still supporting Morgan Wallen through the recent controversy following his ACM nomination.
The “If I Didn’t Love You” singer revealed that of all the nominees, Wallen should be the one to win the coveted “Entertainer of The Year” at the upcoming ACM Awards. “It’s hard to look past Morgan at this point and say, I mean, what else do you gotta do?,” he explained, when asked who should be the newest recipient of the honor. “Morgan’s been hotter and bigger than anybody else in the genre and that’s who should get it.”
Jason Aldean also accepted the last-minute invitation to fill in for Morgan Wallen at last night’s “ACM Lifting Lives” fundraiser show, after Wallen recently announced he’d be taking a six-week period of vocal rest. Aldean even ended his set with a cover of the smash hit “Whiskey Glasses,” in his absent friend’s honor.
