Unless you’ve been living under a rock the last few hours, you are probably well aware that a New York grand jury found former president Donald Trump guilty on all 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in regard to “hush money” payments sent to adult film star Stormy Daniels to allegedly influence the 2016 election.
This marks the first time a former United States president has ever been convicted of criminal charges, sending the internet into a frenzy and causing Trump’s campaign donation site to crash as many of his supporters flooded the webpage to open their wallets after the guilty verdict.
While many republicans took to social media to voice their outrage in support of of the current GOP presidential candidate, most country artists have stayed silent on the matter…except for 5x Grammy nominated singer, Jason Aldean.
Jason and his wife, Brittany, have been very vocal about their politics over the last few years, as well as their outspoken support for the former president, causing other country singers (most notably Maren Morris) to attack the couple on social media and deem the 47 year-old country star as “racist” after he released his controversial single, “Try That In A Small Town,” last year, which would eventually end up becoming his first-ever No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
And today, Jason once again wasn’t afraid to speak up, expressing his support for Donald Trump in an Instagram post that featured an image of an upside down American flag:
“Scary times in our country right now, man. When a former POTUS gets treated like this by our justice system, what does that mean for the rest of us??? If there was ever a time to speak up, ITS NOW! Make no mistake…. We are in trouble.”
Brittany also took to Instagram, calling the guilty verdict a “smear campaign,” along with a photo of her and her husband ringing in the new year with Trump at Mar-A-Lago the year before last:
“WE LOVE YOU @realdonaldtrump.The ones with a brain can see through the smear campaign.”
