Lainey Wilson is killin’ it.
Back in 1983, Crystal Gayle had back-to-back songs go No. 1 in just eight weeks apart. Since then, no female Country artist has done it quicker than that, until Lainey Wilson 40 years later.
The first single we’re referencing here is “Heart Like A Truck,” followed by her collaboration with HARDY on “wait in the truck,” which just won Collaborative Video Of The Year at the 2023 CMT Awards. To be fair, she’s only featured on the song but trust me, she played a huge role in the story-telling and success of it.
Lainey also made history earlier in the year when she became the first female artist in over a decade to simultaneously have multiple songs in the top 10 on Country radio. Don’t forget to mention her acting debut as Abby on Paramount’s Yellowstone.
(Oh, and just realized both songs have the word “truck” in the title. Whoops, sorry to whomever I just ruined that for.)
Listen to ’em both here:
