New album finally on the way?
Despite not releasing a full length LP in 2024, Morgan Wallen was crowned the fourth most streamed artist on Spotify this year. Couple that with the fact that he became the first artist ever to earn five #1s on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart in a calendar year, it’s hard to argue that Wallen doesn’t have one of the most die-hard fanbases in all of music.
Back in early December, the 31 year-old singer/songwriter shared an exclusive video to ticket buyers of his massive ‘One Night At A Time Tour’ thanking his fans for attending and updating them on what he’s been up to. That “update” included that he was seemingly working on new music:
I’m working. I’m taking a little time for myself but I’m working also. Can’t wait to get back out there and see y’all at some point next year.”
Then just two weeks ago, Morgan surprise dropped his fourth and final single of the year, “Smile,” which debuted at No. 27 on the Billboard Hot 100 in just three days of tracking. In the music video, fans believe the name of his upcoming record was revealed, as the phrase “Dark Til Daylight” appeared numerous times throughout. You can read more about that here.
Now fast forward to today, and the “Last Night” singer shared a photo in the studio to his Instagram story with the caption, “Locked In.”
Given that it’s been nearly two years since Wallen dropped his last record, “One Thing At A Time,” coupled with the fact that his headlining tour wrapped up back in October, I think it’s more than safe to say Morgan is officially working on his fourth studio album and not just a single or two. If I were a bettin’ man (which I am, help), I’d expect a release date announcement sometime in the spring.
