Looks like Luke Combs is making the most of every bit of his off-season from touring.
And apparently, in between wrapping up his massive 2026 headlining stadium tour and hitting the road again in spring 2027, the country music superstar has some pretty big personal milestones to celebrate too. It’s no secret that the openly gluten-free “Hurricane” singer has been on a weight-loss journey for quite some time, admitting back in February that it’s something he’s struggled with for most of his life.
Well, judging by his latest appearance in Leupold Optics’ hunting vlog, Combs is looking noticeably slimmer— and no, it’s not because of his snazzy camo get-up. Joining the host and Phelps Game Calls owner, Jason Phelps, in a recently premiered episode, Combs revealed he’s officially lost a whopping 30 pounds.
Since his last appearance with the gang, Combs shared he’s down 30 “lbs,” joking, “probably can’t tell because the camera adds 30 pounds.” Don’t worry, Luke, we can tell.
He continues sharing that the northwest trip has actually been a big milestone marker: “Obviously getting healthy is, you know, the main goal, but this has been one of the big motivators for me was to come here.” Continuing, “I got up and down with you guys in New Mexico last year, enough to get by, and you know, I can always be better, I feel like. But I really wanted to be able to hold my own out here and not half*ss anything.”
Combs’ other big goal, for this trip in particular, was to be able to finally tag an elk. While he admitted he’s shot one before, he’s never actually been able to tag one, and what better chance to change that than an early-season hunt in Utah’s elk country?
Not to spoil the intense vlog for everyone, but halfway through the video, after passing on a few smaller-sized bulls, Combs does, in fact, end up snagging a clean shot of a six-point, sending a mature buck straight to the ground. The boys all agreed it was the “perfect shot.”
Admirably, after finally getting an up-close look at his trophy elk, Combs’ first instinct was to ask everyone if they wanted to pray in gratitude for the moment: “Dear Lord, thank you for this day, the opportunity to have experiences with friends, breathe the breath we breathe; we thank you for this animal, the meat that he provides for us, the experience he provides for us, and for his life that you provided for us.”
Oh, and just when you thought he couldn’t get any more likeable, next on Combs’ to-do list was calling his wife, Nicole, to share the big news. Even with a pretty spotty FaceTime connection, he excitedly filled her in on the successful hunt before sweetly adding,”I love you, and I miss you, babe.”
Combs, of course, also celebrated with the rest of the gang and grabbed a few snapshots with his trophy (Which I’m sure will resurface in a few days and somehow become another unnecessarily controversial moment).
Nonetheless, judging by the YouTube comment section of predominantly hunting fans, whether they also happen to love country music or not, everyone seemed to share the same respect for Combs. Many praised the platinum-certified hitmaker for his “humble” personality and refreshing sense of normalcy, something that’s continued to make him one of the most likeable stars in the industry.
