After an eventful weekend of frolicking around New York City in light of Taylor Swift’s wedding, Maren Morris has now sparked country music’s latest dating rumors.
The “My Church” singer flew out to the Big Apple for the star-studded affair this past Friday, July 3, alongside a handful of country stars, including Kelsea Ballerini, Miranda Lambert, and members of the “Girl Crush” group, Little Big Town. Recapping the trip with a photo dump on her Instagram captioned, “a time was had,” the second photo in the carousel featured a cuddled-up hug shot alongside fellow (ex-country?) singer Cassadee Pope.
The picture is a pretty atypical bestie-esque snapshot at dinner of Morris and The Voice Season 3 alum. And given their past history of smearing Jason Aldean’s wife, Brittany, together, after a series of shots fired over Brittany’s transgender comments in her controversial ‘tomboy phase’ post (which, if you recall, produced Morris’ viral “insurrection Barbie” clapback), this NYC selfie may just seem like two friends getting together.
Pope’s most recent social media post also includes a similar picture on the second slide of the two leaning into one another. However, her Instagram stories showed a slightly different story of the ladies getting much more intimate.
In one of the reposted shots from the dinner, Pope wrote, “Trying to get bb to move here, everyone help.” Last year, Pope relocated from Nashville (where Morris continues to reside) to pursue an acting career, most recently starring in an off-Broadway production of ‘Titanique.’
A few stories later, she shook fans with an unexpected shot of the two of them kissing with Pope’s hands wrapped around Morris’ face, and a cheeky caption, “She won’t go out with you because she’s out with me, silly.” Since Morris’ public statement, coming out in June 2024, a few months after divorcing her ex-husband Ryan Hurd, her bisexual orientation is no secret.
As for Pope, beyond her slamming Brittany for being “un-inclusive” of the LGBTQ+ community and announcing in 2024 that she was officially ordained if any same-sex couples needed help getting married amidst Tennessee’s controversial bill, she herself has never officially come out. And while many think the PDA-heavy pictures are surefire proof of a budding relationship between these two ladies, they have also yet to confirm if they’re actually dating.
After all, the two long-time friends could just be “having fun,” as the kids like to call it. Considering Morris recently announced she’s taking time off after her 2026 Dream Girl Tour wraps up on August 15, she’s got some time to explore the relationship, or, according to the 36-year-old, hang out with her soon-to-be kindergartener son and “get back in the studio.”
