Another day, another record.
It seems as if a month cannot go by without Morgan Wallen breaking some sort of record in the country genre, and July is no different. Last night, the “You Proof” singer broke the record for the largest country concert ever held in the U.K. at BST Hyde Park in London, England with over 50,000 in attendance.
For those unaware, BST Hyde Park is one of the most popular outdoor music venues in London, hosting everyone from the likes of Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band and Billy Joel to Lana Del Ray and SZA.
Wallen performed to a crowd of over 50,000, playing hits such as his current #1 with Post Malone, “I Had Some Help,” his record-breaking smash, “Last Night” and his most recent release, “Lies Lies Lies.”
The performance of “Lies Lies Lies” at Hyde Park served as a bit of a full circle moment for Wallen given that he first released the song on YouTube back in March during his trip to Abbey Road Studios, also located in London.
While there’s plenty of criticism thrown Wallen’s way between his musical style and off-the-stage antics, there’s one thing that is undeniable: he is the biggest country artist in the world. Selling out and performing to a crowd of 50,000 in London of all places simply cannot be understated. Between selling out stadiums here in the U.S., grabbing the #1 song of 2023 in all genres with “Last Night” and now breaking records overseas, there’s no telling how far Wallen is going to rise in the coming years.
This won’t be the last time European fans will get to see Wallen, however. The 31 year-old singer/songwriter will take his One Night At A Time 2024 tour back to Europe starting on August 28 in Stockholm, Sweden. The full 7-show leg of the tour is the following:
- 8/28 Stockholm, Sweden
- 8/30 Oslo, Norway
- 9/1 Copenhagen, Denmark
- 9/3 Amsterdam, Netherlands
- 9/5 Glasgow, UK
- 9/7 Dublin, Ireland
- 9/8 Dublin, Ireland
