After getting arrested on three felony counts of reckless endangerment and one misdemeanor for disorderly conduct for his chair-throwing incident outside of Eric Church’s bar, Chiefs, back in April, Morgan Wallen made headlines yesterday after getting all three felonies reduced in a plea deal.
The plea deal consists of Wallen’s charges now being composed of two misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment without a weapon, having all three felony counts dropped by the court.
Today, at his court hearing, the “Last Night” singer pleaded guilty to the two misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment. Alongside the misdemeanor charges, Wallen will serve seven days in a DUI education center and receive a two-year supervised probation.
As noted by The Tennessean, if Wallen completes his sentencing without any issues, he has the opportunity to request the Nashville Court to expunge the offenses off of his public record.
After appearing in court, Wallen’s lawyer, Worrick Robinson, made a statement, “Earlier today (12/12/24), Morgan Wallen appeared in Davidson County Circuit Court with Judge Cynthia Chappell presiding where he entered a conditional plea pursuant to Tennessee’s Diversion Statute that does not result in a conviction. The plea agreement with the Office of the District Attorney requires Mr. Wallen to spend 7 days at a DUI Education Center, be on probation for 2 years—one year for each of the misdemeanor charges for reckless endangerment—pay a $350 fine and court fees. Upon the successful completion of his probation, the charges will be eligible for dismissal and expungement. Mr. Wallen has cooperated fully with authorities throughout these last eight months, directly communicating and apologizing to all involved. Mr. Wallen remains committed to making a positive impact through his music and foundation.“
This misdemeanor charge comes at the end of another incredibly successful year for the 31-year-old singer/songwriter which included a CMA Entertainer of the Year win, a record-setting five #1 singles on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart, multiple concert-attendance records being broken in both the U.K. and U.S. and his second-straight Billboard “Song of the Summer” nod for “I Had Some Help.”
As of now, Wallen has not made a public statement regarding the guilty plea.
