MASSIVE numbers.
It’s officially that time of year again – ya know, where avid music listeners share their most listened to artists of the year to their social media accounts in the form of Spotify Wrapped or Apple Music Replay, and it appears country music streams were up even higher than they were in 2023.
While the numbers will tell you that country music’s popularity is at an all time high, you can just about credit the genre’s success to two artists alone – Morgan Wallen and Zach Bryan.
Earlier in the week, Spotify dropped their own “wrapped,” releasing the most streamed artists on their music platform, as well as top albums, podcasts, etc.. To no ones surprise, Taylor Swift came in at No 1., not just in the US, but globally. Drake followed at No. 2, with Zach Bryan coming in at third and Morgan Wallen coming in at fourth in the US.
I think it’s important to note that Wallen hasn’t released an album since March of 2023, making it all the more impressive that he beat out global stars such as Kanye West, The Weeknd and Kendrick Lamar.
County music was also the second most-played genre of the year on TouchTunes, occupying 24% of all credits. And of course, Morgan Wallen was the most played male artist (shocker).
