Making history.
With an incredible amount of hype, a star-studded features lineup that included everyone from Dolly Parton to Morgan Wallen and an album rollout that felt more like an event rather than a music release, it seems like there was absolutely no doubt that Post Malone’s F-1 Trillion was going to be a smash hit.
Given that Post is one of the most successful artists in the streaming age with a record-breaking nine certified diamond songs by the RIAA, it shouldn’t come as a huge surprise that the album was a hit. However, Post accomplished something today that has never been done before by any artist in history.
Today, it was confirmed that the album went #1 not only on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart but also the all-genre Billboard 200, breaking Taylor Swift’s 15-week #1 run with “The Tortured Poets Department,” which blocked the likes of Zach Bryan’s The Great American Bar Scene and Chappell Roan’s The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess.
It should go without saying that scoring a #1 on the Billboard 200 is a huge accomplishment in and of itself, but Post Malone accomplished something never before seen with F-1 Trillion going #1 on the Top Country Albums chart. He became the first artist in history to score #1 albums on the Top Country (F-1 Trillion), Top Rap (beerbongs & bentleys, Hollywood’s Bleeding) and Top Rock & Alternative Albums (Austin) chart.
If there was any doubt that Post is one of the most versatile artists of our generation, seamlessly going from rap to pop to alternative to country, this accomplishment solidifies it. While some argue about his authenticity given how much he’s jumped around genres over the past few years, there’s no denying the success he’s found with his experimentation between different genres. There are few artists that can transition between different musical styles, let alone have this much success, but it’s clear that the “Congratulations” singer is not your average artist.
