I’ve been hoping (and expecting) for this to happen…
Back in 1988, Tracy Chapman released her debut single, “Fast Car.” To this day, it’s been a massive and nostalgic hit, bringing in listeners of all genres, including Country superstar Luke Combs.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock (and even then you’d probably still know it) Luke Combs released his cover of Fast Car from his latest album, “Gettin’ Old” and it just became the No. 1 Country song on Billboard’s Airplay chart in only 11 weeks.
Just a few days ago, Tracy Chapman posted a video clip to her Instagram account with side by side clips of her original, as well as Luke’s cover, with the caption reading; “Who would want to see this collaboration?”
Luke didn’t change any of the lyrics in his version, making Chapman the first back female to score a No. 1 Country song as a sole writer. In other words, she’s also gettin’ PAID.
Looks like we could be in for an epic performance from these two at some point. We’ll keep ya up to date.
