Earlier today, Tyler Childers gave a performance of “Universal Sound” at Andy Beshear’s second Inauguration after beating his Republican opponent, Daniel Cameron, for Kentucky governor.
After the announcement was made that the 32 year old, In Your Love singer would be performing at the ceremony earlier in the month, Beshear said he got to know Childers when the Kentucky native performed at an Appalachian Regional Commission conference:
“You could tell how important home and place is to him.
And with him up for a Grammy this year – what a great story it says about Kentucky and Kentuckians and the talent that we have here.
It’s exciting to see these really successful people step up and talk about how much they love Kentucky.”
Beshear’s overall approval rating is currently at 60%. Among Republican voters, 43% favor the governor, while 53% disapprove of the job he’s done the last four years.
Universal Sound, the song Childers performed today, was featured on his most popular album to date, “Purgatory.” The record was released in 2017 and also features “Feathered Indians,” “Whitehouse Road” and “Lady May.”
Childers currently has three Grammy nominations, tied with Zach Bryan and Chris Stapleton as the most nominated country artist this year.
