What a helluva time to be a CWG fan.
Last month, Charles Wesley Godwin officially released his major-label debut album, “Family Ties.”
Ever since the 19-track record dropped, Charles has been releasing live performance videos, shot at Echo Mountain by the one and only, Louie Nice.
With four performances videos released in just seven days, I imagine there could be even more coming, and let me tell ya, these live videos have been that good, I now get a little jittery seeing the “Charles Wesley Godwin Uploaded New Video” notification on my phone. Ya know, something reminiscent of the cringey TikTok girl doing a little happy dance for attention in the corner booth of a Chick-Fil-A after taking a bite of nuggets and waffle fries for the eight-hundredth time that week. Except, in this scenario, I’m a grown ass man sitting in the Walmart parking lot after purchasing a case of Miller Lites and one of them $5 forty-two inch pizzas, just living vicariously through every new performance video uploaded.
It’s truly no secret that Godwin is one of the fastest-rising stars in the entire genre. Between signing a record deal with Big Loud back in March and touring with Zach Bryan for the better part of two years, Godwin’s steady rise has been a fun one to watch.
Willing and Able, seemingly a love letter penned to his wife, is a beautiful and moving song highlighting how much he appreciates and loves her, with the sentiment of being far away as the song’s main focus.
While the original recording is damn good, the live performance video really brings it to life and captivates you from the time Charles opens his mouth.
