One of my favorite Drayton Farley songs.
After a three-night run out on the east coast together for the Acoustic Nights Tour earlier this year, Drayton Farley and Sam Barber have once again teamed up to bless our news feeds (and ears) with an incredible performance of Drayton’s 2021 release, “Chewing on Fire.“
Drayton is one of the most talented songwriters, not just in the independent/americana scene, but in my opinion, in all of music.
While still extremely underrated, 2023 has been a breakout year for the Alabama native. Releasing two projects, including his most recent 5-track EP, Kudzu Wild, he has also made his Grand Ole Opry debut and performed alongside Whiskey Myers and Charles Wesley Godwin at select venues.
Sam Barber has also had a break out year, becoming one of the fastest-rising independent artists in the genre. The Missouri-native’s first release of 2023, “Drowning,” came out in March, followed by “Straight and Narrow,” which now has nearly 90 million streams on Spotify alone. He also just announced his first ever 2024 headlining tour.
Sam shared the clip to his Tiktok and Instagram account yesterday, with a caption that reads:
“A true honor to play a song I’ve always loved.”
Featuring some complimentary and cohesive harmonies from Drayton that just simply work, fans in the comments seem to be wanting more from the duo. And I’m one of them.
