What a cover.
Before opening up for the Turnpike Troubadours on the second night of their sold-out, back-to-back Red Rocks shows, Wyatt Flores and Sierra Hull warmed up in fashion, performing Tyler Childers‘ “Shake the Frost.”
Yesterday, Hull and Flores took to social media to announce that the video would be posted exclusively on Hull’s Youtube channel.
This isn’t the first time that Flores has covered Childers. Back in March, the “Please Don’t Go” singer brought out fellow indie star, Sam Barber, to perform “Jersey Giant” at their show in Asheville, North Carolina. You can watch that performance here.
The pair delivered an absolute gem of a performance here. I never imagined “Shake the Frost” as a duet, but Flores and Hull transformed the song beautifully. Between Hull’s stellar mandolin, Flores’ emotional vocals and their harmonies, they delivered a cover that honors the legacy of one of the greatest songs in Childers’ discography.
