Calling it right now: Zach Top is set to have the album of the summer. As we move into sunnier months with plenty of new music on the way, Top has added to the excitement by teasing another track from his highly anticipated upcoming album.
On Wednesday, April 2, Top performed at The Lyric Oxford in Oxford, Mississippi. Before hitting the stage, he treated fans to a special preview during the VIP meet-and-greet session, playing a few tracks. A clip shared on TikTok on April 4 shows Top shredding on guitar, performing a never-before-heard song that appears to be titled “Good Times and Tan Lines.”
The clip was posted by user @christianfreakingburge, who shared in the comments that before the VIP session, Top played “one song he’s done before” and then asked the crowd for a request. He followed up by performing the new track, which is set to be featured on his upcoming album.
The song captures the nostalgic feel of summer, with lyrics that reflect a longing for those carefree days. The chorus sings, “Sounds like good times and tan lines, cold beer and summer nights, that was all there was to life.” Given how often Top repeats the phrase “Good Times and Tan Lines” in the 2-minute clip, it’s safe to assume that’s the title of the track.
This song marks the second reveal from Top’s forthcoming sophomore album, which he hinted at during an interview at the Houston Rodeo. The other track we’ve heard so far is “Flip Flop,” a sunny, Jimmy Buffett-inspired tune that he’s performed at several shows.
Although there’s no official release date for the album yet, it’s clearly on the horizon. Until then, fans can look forward to hopefully more previews as Top continues to perform on his Cold Beer and Country Music tour, as well as alongside Dierks Bentley on The Broken Branches Tour.
