The Wyatts are dominating as one of the best new releases of this year so far.
Or, as I like to call them, “Wyatt squared.” After some light teasing this past week, the rising artist pairing of Waylon Wyatt and Wyatt Flores dropped their collaborative single, “Didn’t Forget,” today, and it’s a must-listen. Blending their red dirt roots and drawing on influences from Arkansas and Texas, respectively, the pair create a western sound that feels like a perfect match.
Flores, who has been spending the past few days in Australia for his Bucking Bin Chicken tour, recently sat down with the Aussie Dusty Boots Podcast in an episode released on February 15. During the interview, the hosts discussed the last time Waylon was ‘down under’ for the Ridin’ festival and when Flores decided to bring the “ripper young kid” on stage for a performance.
This is when Flores first hinted at the co-written song between the two, saying, “No one told me when it’s releasing, so I can’t even get into any trouble. I guess whenever Waylon wants to put it out.” Waylon also posted a clip last week of their performance of “Losing Sleep,” with the caption “Might be something coming soon.” Sure enough, on Wednesday afternoon, the two took to Instagram to post the song announcement and cover art.
Crazy enough, the song and their friendship stem from a full circle moment given that Waylon’s first concert he ever attended was Flores’ show at Cain’s Ballroom in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Since then, fueled in part by their viral success, the two have grown into rising stars in country music and developed a strong working relationship.
With Waylon’s debut EP Til The Sun Goes Down released in November 2024, he is still less than two years into his career and already holds an RIAA Gold certification for his single “Arkansas Diamond.” At just 19 years old, he possesses one of the most striking voices far beyond his age, and this new track will be sure to catapult his rapidly growing success.
Fellow 24-year-old young buck, Flores, joins in on the second verse of this Spanish heavy instrumental track, which centers on post-breakup sorrow. True to its title, the chorus leans into the familiar theme of forgiving but never forgetting.
Impressively, despite not yet releasing a full-length album, Waylon is preparing for his headline European and UK tour, Out of the Blue: Across the Pond, in March, followed by his Everywhere Under the Sun U.S. tour beginning in April. Likewise, Flores, who’s now well beyond a staple in the genre, continues to cement his status as a fan favorite with his upcoming Drive All Night Tour, launching in March.
