History in the making.
This Wednesday, Zach Bryan made the surprising move of scheduling a Michigan Stadium show in Ann Arbor on September 27th featuring the likes of John Mayer, Ryan Bingham and Joshua Stone. It came to many’s attention that Bryan had the opportunity to do what no one in history has done: sell out the largest stadium in the country.
Tickets went on sale today at 10 a.m. CT, and within a few hours, it completely sold out. This means that Bryan has now sold out the largest ticketed show in American history.
In an Instagram post announcing the sold-out show, the “I Remember Everything” singer said, “you guys just sold out the biggest ticked show in American history. I owe you my life, my humility and every ounce of effort I have. I love y.a” more than any song. What a wild and rowdy damn 6 years. God bless the musicians who came before us. the respect is immeasurable.”
Though it will not be official until the day of the concert, the ticket sales for Bryan‘s show have already exceeded George Strait’s record set last June at his Kyle Stadium show which boasted a staggering 110,905 attendees, beating out the record previously held by by The Grateful Dead back in 1977 at their show in Old Bridge, New Jersey.
Michigan Stadium’s official capacity is 107,601; however, it has hosted crowds in excess of 115,000 in the past, most notably on Sept. 7, 2013, where a record-setting 115,109 fans attended Michigan’s 41-30 victory over Notre Dame. Barring any last-minute issues and ticketing problems, it looks like Bryan will now become the sole owner of the highest-attended concert in the country’s history when the official numbers are released.
Though it has been speculated on whether Bryan could keep the incredible amount of momentum gained over the years with his messy, public breakup with Barstool personality, Brianna Chickenfry, and some social media posts hinting at a frustration being called into question, this history-making show is sure to quiet a lot of doubters of the 28-year-old singer/songwriter.
