On Friday, the Grammys announced the nominees for their 2024 awards show. Zach Bryan, Chris Stapleton, and Tyler Childers lead the country categories with three nominations each, with Childers also grabbing nominations for Best Americana Performance and Best Music Video.

Lainey Wilson and Jelly Roll garnered two nominations apiece, including sharing one in Best Country Duo/Group Performance for “Save Me”. Jelly Roll received his other nomination for Best New Artist, while Lainey’s Bell Bottom Country was honored for Best Country Album, categories both artists won, respectively, at the CMA’s on Wednesday.

Fresh off his CMA Song of the Year win, Luke Combs’ “Fast Car” garnered him another nomination for Best Country Solo Performance.

Country artists did not receive much recognition in the major categories. The only country acts to receive nominations outside the country specific categories were Jelly Roll for New Artist and Childers for Best Video.

Notably, Morgan Wallen was left out of the nominations entirely just days after being shutout at the CMA Awards. His song “Last Night” received a nomination for Best Country Song, but that is a songwriting category and Wallen does not have writing credits on the track.

Wallen’s checkered past has always made the major award shows wary, but to completely ignore an artist that had the longest reigning number one album on the Billboard Hot 200 in over a decade is a pretty direct slap in the face.

Shortly after the nominations were released, Jelly Roll posted a reel to instagram with an emotional reaction to being nominated. Jelly has one of the most heartwarming stories in the industry, and to see him moved to tears at this accomplishment is so cool to see.
