I’m totally not seething with jealousy right now…
Zach Top’s Jacksonville crowd was blessed with an absolute gem of a cover this weekend, and I lied— I’m having massive FOMO witnessing all of the videos online. During his show at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena this past Friday, October 2, Top treated the crowd to the perfect Floridian anthem, John Anderson’s “Seminole Wind.”
Despite the fact that Anderson’s 1992 hit was inspired by the Sunshine State, telling the story of the Seminole Tribe of Florida and the destruction of the Everglades, I still consider it to be a country fall playlist staple. Hence why it’s recently found its way back into my daily rotation, leaving me pleasantly shocked when I saw Top reviving the classic.
Catering to his North Florida fans, Top brought out his tour-mate and fellow ’90s country aficionado Jake Worthington for the performance, telling the crowd beforehand, “We’re gonna try a little Florida country music for you now.” Everyone enthusiastically welcomed the song’s stunning intro, with the violinist leading into the amped up classic and Top taking the lead on the first verse.
To no one’s surprise, we can officially add this rendition to Top’s never-failing list of epic covers. Worthington’s deep, jukebox-worthy vocals lent themselves to the track perfectly as well, satisfyingly meshing alongside Top’s on the chorus.
I’ve long been a fan of Luke Combs’ 2022 version of the song as well, but I think Top and Worthington may have officially given it a run for its money. The “I Never Lie” singer still has quite a few stops left on the remainder of his 2026 Cold Beer & Country Music Tour throughout October, so hopefully there are a few more unforgettable covers in store before the year wraps up.
He’ll return to the stage this Thursday, October 8, in Des Moines, Iowa, followed by two more shows this weekend in Rosemont and St. Paul, Minnesota.
