There truly wouldn’t be a more perfect crossover performance than Morgan Wallen taking the stage at a racing event.
After all, his 2025 album I’m The Problem was heavily intertwined with racing motifs, despite the fact that none of the songs necessarily tapped into the imagery. Not to mention, in June 2025, he made a surprise appearance alongside racing legend Richard Petty at a NASCAR Nashville Superspeedway race, and this year he kept the need for speed going with a tour partnership alongside Kawasaki and a winning feature on his very own SiriusXM IndyCar.
This May, the country music superstar found himself plastered on one of Meyer Shank Racing’s liveries thanks to their deal with SiriusXM, highlighting his freshly announced Morgan Wallen Radio. The IndyCar team went on to win it all at the Indianapolis 500, with driver Felix Rosenqvist leading them to victory in the No.60 Honda.
And according to a recent Sports Business Journal article, the team is hoping their Wallen wins won’t just stop there. Commercial director of the team, Tim Meyer, shared that 2027 is bound to be a big year for Meyer Shank Racing who is hoping to make a larger impact with their partnership alongside SiriusXM and other major music labels/artists. In addition to the “Sand in my Boots” singer, in the past, the team has also highlighted artists such as Eric Church, Riley Green, Carrie Underwood, and Nickelback.
While a few racing fans took offense to the fact that Wallen neglected the team’s insane 2026 IndyCar win by not showing up to the race and only re-sharing one singular video from the win on Instagram— you’ve got to remember he’s a pretty reserved star. Meyer did confirm that Wallen did, in fact, watch the race and extended his celebrations in a note:
We didn’t share anything [publicly], but we got a very, very nice note from him. He sent us a video, was super supportive, we’ve got multiple interactions along the way that, he watched the whole race
Looking ahead to next season, they’re even hoping to work out a deal to have him showcase his stadium-selling performance skills ahead of the 2027 IndyCar weekend. Aiming to bring some younger acts to the ‘Carb Day,’ Meyer shared that he thinks there’s a chance to work out a mutually beneficial show for the Sneedville-native:
Now that he’s been engaged in the sport, how could you maybe go back to someone like that, that would have never played Carb Day, but they’d do it for something more than just a pay day? Like, ‘Hey look, what if we ran back the Morgan Wallen car again, Fox gave you a huge platform for the weekend, and you’d play Carb Day?
Given that Wallen is a pretty high-ticket, high-demand act, I wouldn’t get your hopes up just yet. But you never know; this could be exactly the kind of side quest he’s looking for. After all, there’s no telling what he has in store when it comes to new music, and a May showcase could line up perfectly ahead of another summer of touring or even the celebration of a new album.
