I think we can all agree the theme of this year’s Season 30 of The Voice is MESSY.
And honestly, that’s largely because Riley Green seems to have a trail of Nashville drama following him wherever he goes. For those who aren’t familiar with the first-time coach’s rumored dating history, Green has been romantically linked— at least in the eyes of the internet— to a few of country music’s biggest names, creating plenty of messy love-triangle speculation along the way.
For starters, the show has played into Green’s scorned relationship with Megan Moroney, playing one of her songs after a contestant didn’t choose to join his team. He also got in some trouble on the internet earlier this week after seemingly “taking credit” for Ella Langley’s success, which she in turn responded to during an Instagram Live, saying, “Didn’t love that but typical.”
Now, to top things off, the show is taunting him with two contestants going head to head on a Tucker Wetmore song, which is a whole other spider web in itself. Last year, the Alabama native spurred a love triangle with the “Brunette” singer after Green took Wetmore’s Ex, Bryanna Ferringer, to the CMAs.
Wetmore dated the influencer for nearly a year before they split in 2025, and lo and behold, fans (and I’m sure Wemote) were shocked to see Green show up with her on the red carpet a few months later. The plot thickened once Ella Langley started allegedly dating Wetmore, who no doubt had some sort of history with Green offstage.
Now with all that in mind, imagine everyone’s surprise when Adam Levine made his team members Ean James and Luke Curran perform Wetmore’s 2024 hit, “Wind Up Missin’ You.”

Drama aside, the young singers did a pretty spectacular job on the battle, with one person even comparing them to “Young Hunter Hayes and Charlie Puth.”
Personally, I think these two need to just leave the show behind and pursue their own duo career together, but for now Levine had to make the tough decision to pick Evan as the winner and sent Luke home. With both singer’s yielding two distinct voices of their own, this, of course, has brought some backlash from fans who believe he made the wrong decision.

As for Green, he had nothing but praise for both aspiring artists. Levine then followed up with yet another jab of his own, quipping, “Something they both have in common is that neither one of them picked you,” which Green seemed a little less amused by. Come on, Adam, I think you’ve thrown enough jokes Riley’s way for one night.
The third round of Battles returns next Monday, Oct. 19, on NBC, and at this point, all we need is for someone to actually sing a Megan Moroney song to really round out this season’s ongoing list of drama.
