Another one. Last month, Charles Wesley Godwin released his first major-label debut album, “Family Ties.” Coming in at a hefty 19-tracks with an over an hour runtime, the record features some of Godwin’s best music to date. While my opinions have shifted with multiple listens, one track that I still just absolutely love is “Another Leaf.” A solo write by Godwin, the song has a certain spark that begs you to roll the window and bask in the musicianship present on the track. The tempo changes, the incredibly melodic chorus and the final breakdown in the latter half of the…

At this point in time, we are probably all aware of the controversy that surrounded Jason Aldean’s latest single, “Try That In A Small Town.” The song, which Jason says refers to a “feeling of a community that I had growing up, where we took care of our neighbors, regardless of differences of background or belief, sure ruffled some feathers on its climb to becoming his first #1 song on the Billboard Hot 100. The music video was also pulled from CMT after news broke that it was shot at the Maury County Courthouse in Tennessee, where a lynching took…

Leaving country music AND her husband. After over 5 years of marriage, Maren Morris has officially filed for divorce against her husband, and fellow country singer, Ryan Hurd. According to US Weekly, who obtained the divorce complaint filed in Davidson County, Tennessee, on October 2nd, Morris cited “irreconcilable differences.” The couple first met at a songwriters circle in Nashville, where they ended up writing for the first time together. The song they ended up crankin’ out just so happened to be “Last Turn Home,” which was recorded by Tim McGraw and featured on his 2014 “Sundown Heaven Town” album. Maren, known…

This past Friday, Megan Moroney released a live acoustic performance video of “Traitor Joe” to her official Youtube channel. The song, which is one of my personal favorites from her thus far, was featured on her debut studio album, “Lucky,” that dropped earlier this year on May 5th and includes her first ever #1 song at Country radio, Tennessee Orange. Written by Megan, along with Ben Williams, Casey Brown and Parker Welling, Traitor Joe is one of the more interesting songs off the 13-track record. It cleverly tells the story of a girl trying to warn the titular, Joe, that…

“C’mon baby, let’s go listen to the night train…” On October 16th, 2012, Jason Aldean released his fifth studio album, “Night Train.” Fresh off the massive success of his 2010 release, “My Kinda Party,” this follow-up record also features 15 tracks, along with another 5 singles, four of which went #1 at Country radio. Night Train debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, as well as the Top Country Albums chart, selling over 409,000 copies in its first week. The record was also the highest first sales week of a country album since Taylor Swift’s “Speak Now” in 2010. It was also the fourth biggest…

Talk about gettin’ your moneys worth. Last night, Toby Keith made a surprise appearance for fans in attendance of Jason Aldean’s concert at the Paycom Center in Oklahoma City. Toby, who has been recently recovering from his battle with stomach cancer, appears to be healthy and has even hinted at hittin’ the road again. The 62 year old country star recently won the first ever Country Icon Award at the Inaugural People’s Choice Country Awards back in September, where he also gave a powerful performance of “Don’t Let The Old Man In.” Since Aldean was performing in Keith’s home state…
