Cody Johnson made a huge announcement before taking the stage at Country Thunder in Florence, Arizona on Saturday night. The “‘Til You Can’t” singer joined local radio station personalities of KMLE Country 107.9 for an interview before starting his show, and when asked about new music, revealed a sizable project already in the works – another double album.
The new album, titled “Leather,” will be Johnson’s third major label record, and follows the release of “Human: The Double Album” in 2021. In the interview, he stated this album will be released a little differently than the last, and promised a total of 24 brand new tracks. He also indicated that “Leather” will have a more high energy type sound, saying “I think the theme of this new album is ‘fun.'” The best part of the announcement came when CoJo revealed the forthcoming record contains “the best round of songs he’s ever recorded.” “I feel like that’s the way it should be,” he explained. “Each album should outdo the last one.”
While he hasn’t announced any additional details surrounding “Leather” or it’s release date, Cody Johnson seemed confident that the already highly anticipated record would be available within the next year. The ex-rodeo star set the bar sky high with “Human,” so if his new project is even better, fans should get ready for another massive success.
