Music video of the year.
There’s no doubt that Ella Langley and Riley Green’s viral hit, “you look like you love me” is one of the biggest country songs of the year. Racking up over 64 million streams on Spotify alone and over 112 million streams across all platforms, the song has also been used over a million times as a sound on TikTok with many videos reaching tens of millions of likes using the track in the background.
Released on June 21st, “you look like you love me” scored Langley her first career entry as a leading artist on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs and Hot 100 chart, peaking at #13 and #36 respectively. This came just months after her first-ever appearance on the aforementioned charts due to her feature on Kameron Marlowe’s “Strangers.”
Riding the high of the song’s viral success over the past three months, Langley took to Instagram on Monday to announce an official music video for the track along with a teaser.
Directed by Wales Toney (director of Koe Wetzel’s “That’s Why We Fight), John Park and Langley herself, the video captures a classic western feeling complete with some fantastic costuming, set-design and cinematography to boot.
Making the decision to have the song’s story take place in an Old West bar, the music video decided to portray Green as an outlaw with a bounty placed on him. This leads to none other than “In Color” singer, Jamey Johnson, serving as a bit of an antagonist to Langley and Green.
However, through the pair’s undeniable charm throughout the song and video itself, Johnson’s character decides to abandon the bounty, sharing a dance with Langley before her and Green run off on horseback.
