It was a huge weekend for both concerts and festivals across the country this weekend. From Zach Bryan’s three-night stretch of sold-out shows at MetLife Stadium with Kings of Leon and The Front Bottoms which featured a surprise appearance from Bruce Springsteen and Gabriella Rose to Morgan Wallen’s back-to-back nights in Phoenix which was highlighted by the announcement of a remix of “Miami” featuring Rick Ross and Lil Wayne coming this Friday, there was a lot to miss.
Couple that with Rock the Country hitting Sioux Falls, North Dakota, and a plethora of artists such as Koe Wetzel, Ty Myers, Megan Moroney, Chris Stapleton, Jason Aldean and Parker McCollum continuing their hot tours, and you have yourself a busy weekend for country fans nationwide.
One thing that was very apparent, however, was fan behavior during some of these shows. From artists getting beers thrown on them to fights in the crowd to the biggest artist in the genre getting grabbed, here are some of the most ridiculous concert moments from this weekend.
Morgan Wallen Gets Grabbed Walking To The Side Stage
Despite getting off to a strong start during night one in Glendale after walking out with Arizona Diamondbacks Hall of Fame pitcher, Randy Johnson, Wallen’s crowd got out of hand fairly quickly. After experiencing multiple things getting thrown at him on the main stage, the “Last Night” singer was grabbed while making his way to a side stage.
In a TikTok video by user, BaelubRoss, Wallen is shown high-fiving fans while walking towards a smaller stage at StateFarm Stadium. After the Tennessee native makes his way to the TikTok user, he is grabbed by a drunk woman, getting pulled back slightly. In response, Wallen shakes himself out of her grasp, looks back in bewilderment and mouths what seems to be “The f*ck?”
Between getting grabbed and multiple fights breaking out, Wallen was not happy and told the crowd during night two, “I didn’t know if I was ever going to come back to Arizona after that crowd last night, but I think tonight you might change my mind.“
Koe Wetzel Gets Nailed With A Beer Performing “High Road”
Undoubtedly one of the biggest festivals of the summer, Fairwell Fest in Redmond, Oregon, did not disappoint. Featuring the likes of Sturgill Simpson, Tyler Childers, Treaty Oak Revival, Cody Jinks, Sierra Ferrell and more, the lineup was nothing short of incredible. Despite the fantastic bill, it didn’t prevent fans from getting, well, stupid.
During a performance of his #1 hit with Jessie Murph, “High Road,” Koe Wetzel was nailed by a beer, which splashed everywhere upon impact. Unfazed due to a long history of getting beers thrown at him while performing, Wetzel took the high road (pun intended) and simply continued playing.
Ty Myers Kicks Fans Out For Fighting
During Bulls, Bands & Barrels over the weekend, yet another fight broke out, this time stopping Ty Myers’ performance outright. With punches flying everywhere, multiple people were escorted out by security. During all the commotion, Myers told the brawlers, “Get the f*ck off each other.”
Minutes later, while the chaos was still ongoing, Myers was apparently flipped off by someone in the crowd. In response, the “Ends of the Earth” singer said, “Put your middle finger down and get the hell out of here,” flipping him off in return and mouthing “f*ck you.”
Jason Aldean Gets Food And A Phone Thrown At Him On Stage
Jason Aldean had quite a weekend on his Full Throttle Tour. Despite all three concerts going off without a hitch and Aldean treating fans to a wide selection of his 30 #1 hits throughout his career, there were still some head-scratching moments from fans during the shows.
Beginning with the most random one, on Friday, July 18th, during his show in Rogers, Arkansas, Aldean stopped the concert for a moment to highlight the fact that a fan threw their food on the stage. In the video, Aldean says, “I don’t know what’s going on out here. I came out a second ago, and there’s french fries, pickles, tomato… Is somebody having a picnic over here? What’s going on?”
Just the day before in Tulsa, Aldean also got a phone tossed at him on stage during a performance of his 2014 smash hit, “Burnin’ It Down.” In a TikTok by user, Cm lane, the phone is shown getting thrown behind the Georgia native on stage. Clearly confused, he looks back at it before picking it up and throwing it back into the crowd to return it.
I’m not sure if there was something in the air this weekend or what, but it’s becoming increasingly apparent that fans are getting a little too rowdy at concerts these days. There’s always a time and a place for getting a little wild at shows, especially when artists such as Gavin Adcock and Treaty Oak Revival actively encourage it on songs like “Boomtown.” With that being said, however, fans have to be more respectful of the artists they’re paying money to go see. In other words, do better people.
