Shocking.
Earlier today, news broke that country music star, Garth Brooks, was accused of sexual assault and battery by he and his wife, Trisha Yearwood’s, former hair-and-makeup artist.
According to CNN, the complaint was filed by a “Jane Roe” in a state court in California on Thursday and stems from an incident that occurred back in 2019 during a work trip.
Roe claims that Garth would “repeatedly expose his genitals and buttocks, talk about sex and share sexual fantasies, regularly changing his clothing in front of her and sending explicit text messages.”
Additionally, Roe claims that the “Shameless” singer raped her in a hotel room while the two were on a work trip Los Angeles in 2019 while recording a tribute for the Grammys. According to Roe and her attorneys, Brooks allegedly booked a hotel suite with only one bedroom.
Once in the hotel room, Roe alleged that the Brooks “appeared in the doorway to the bedroom, completely naked,” stating that she felt “trapped in the room alone with Brooks.” After the alleged rape, she also claimed he once again continued to share his sexual fantasies with her and physically groped her.
According to the complaint, Garth also repeatedly made remarks about “having a threesome” with Roe and his wife, Trisha Yearwood.
Brooks and his team apparently found out about his accuser’s plans to file the complaint and release it to the public and blocked Roe from publicly repeating her allegations, claiming she was “a lying extortionist who intended on destroying his professional reputation.”
In another complaint filed under John Doe, Brooks claims that Roe’s attorney sent him a “confidential” letter that claimed that they would allege sexual misconduct after Brooks declined Roe’s request for “salaried employment and medical benefits.”
In Brooks’ previous lawsuit, it states, “Defendant’s allegations are not true. Defendant is well aware, however, of the substantial, irreparable damage such false allegations would do to Plaintiff’s well-earned reputation as a decent and caring person, along with the unavoidable damage to his family and the irreparable damages to his career and livelihood that would result if she made good on her threat to ‘publicly file’ her fabricated lawsuit.”
Roe’s attorneys, Jeanne Christensen and Hayley Baker, released a statement after the lawsuit was made public, saying:
“The complaint filed today demonstrates that sexual predators exist not only in corporate America, Hollywood and in the rap and rock and roll industries but also in the world of country music.
We are confident that Brooks will be held accountable for his actions and his efforts to silence our client through the filing of a preemptive complaint in Mississippi was nothing other than an act of desperation and attempted intimidation.”
Roe apparently quit working for Garth and his wife back in May of 2021, right before moving to Mississippi. At this moment, there has been no repose from GB’s team.
