Garth Brooks Once Gifted Luke Combs A $90,000 Ford Bronco Raptor For Performing His Song “The Beaches Of Cheyenne”

Apparently, Garth Brooks is on a whole other level of gift-giving.

A recently resurfaced clip from August 2025 shows country music superstar Luke Combs chatting with Dax Shepard on his podcast, Armchair Expert, where he shared an insane story about the “Thunder Rolls” singer. Combs described his experience of the ultimate delayed gratification following one of his performances at the Ryman Auditorium.

Combs was one of the performers at Brooks’ Songwriters Hall of Fame induction, and in lieu, where the “Hurricane” singer was invited to perform a rendition of one of Garth’s self-written tracks. Apparently, that single song performance paid off in a big way, earning him a brand new $90,000 Ford Bronco Raptor delivered to his doorstep a year and a half later.

Imagine Combs’ surprise when his manager showed up at his house with his dream ride, “So he comes in and he like throws me the keys to this thing and I’m like, ‘Are you giving me your car, dude? Like what is this?’ he’s like ‘No man, Garth bought you this.’”

Combs explains, “It had been maybe a year and a half before that he got inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and they did it at the Ryman, and it was like all these people came and like you picked your favorite song that Garth has written. So not every Garth song, he didn’t write all of them, so you had to pick one that he wrote.” His song of choice was the 1995 track, “The Beaches of Cheyenne” off of Garth’s sixth studio album. He adds, “It was a hit, but it wasn’t like a super hit.” The track did go on to become his 15th Billboard Number One in March 1996.

Following that night, Garth must’ve called up Combs’ manager the next week to ask, “What does Luke like?” and his manager insinuated that Combs was big into cars, Fords, and currently a Bronco owner. Amazingly, Garth and his team responded by ordering him a Bronco Raptor, which was no small feat at the time, since the vehicle was pretty exclusive. The truck ended up being on hold for nearly a year before it was finally delivered. “I didn’t talk to him from that night until that thing showed up at my house, obviously I called him, and then I had it painted.” Admittedly, if this is the standard for a Garth Brooks ‘thank you’ gift, I’m a little curious to hear what the other artists received that night.

Despite not talking for a year and a half after the performance, Garth’s mutual respect for Combs went beyond buying lavish vehicles. He joined Combs’ last spring for the ultimate crossover performance at Stage Coach, where the two sang his iconic hit, “Friends In Low Places.”

With his sixth studio album, The Way I Am, inbound on March 20, it’s insane to watch as Combs continues to reach and exceed Garth Brooks’ level of success in the country music scene. Both currently have 19 number one hits on Billboard’s Hot Country songs chart and continue to dominate RIAA certifications, with Combs being the highest certified country artist in history, surpassing Garth in October 2025.

Luke Combs explains how singing “The Beaches of Cheyenne” at Garth Brooks’ Songwriters Hall of Fame induction turned into one of the wildest surprises of his career. After performing just one song that Garth Brooks personally wrote, Luke Combs didn’t hear anything for a year. Then suddenly, a custom-ordered Ford Bronco Raptor showed up at his house. Luke Combs says Garth Brooks had called his manager the week after the performance to ask what he liked — and once he heard Luke was into Broncos and Fords, he ordered one for him. Because of production delays, it took nearly a year to arrive. Luke Combs hadn’t even spoken to Garth since that night. Then out of nowhere… a six-figure thank-you gift lands in his driveway. This Luke Combs interview shows how respect, gratitude, and legacy really work in country music. #Podcast #Interview #LukeCombs #Music #CountryMusic
