“He Can Climb All The Fences He Wants, He’s Not Getting My Chili Dog” – Brantley Gilbert Responds To Zach Bryan’s Trolling Parody of “Dirt Road Anthem” [Watch]

Zach Bryan’s newest parody, “Chili on a Hot Dog,” has officially found its way to original “Dirt Road Anthem” writer, Brantley Gilbert, and his response is hilarious.

Bryan and his friend, Harley Carmichael, took to Instagram on Tuesday to post their food-themed version of Gilbert and Colt Ford’s 2010 hit, “Dirt Road Anthem”, which was recorded most notably by Jason Aldean. The mock parody came two days after Gilbert’s performance of the song at the Turning Point USA Half Time show on Sunday night, which Bryan vocally dissed on social media. In a now deleted instagram story, he said, “I don’t care what side you’re on, a bunch of adults throwing temper tantrums and their own halftime show is embarrassing as h*** and the most cringe s*** on the planet.”

If you’ve yet to see the hot dog-heavy track, it’s essentially just the two repeating the tag line, “Chili on a hot dog, I’m talking about Chili on a hot dog, Mother F***** Chili on a hot dog, I’m double fisting chili on a hot dog.” It then leads into him rapping what can be viewed as mocking the original verses with other lines like, “I need a dog, I got a bad itch, throw on some mustard and some relish, every day is like a ball game, got myself a white shirt with a chili stain.”

Bryan’s upbeat jab at the original certainly increased Gilbert’s appetite for some hot dogs himself– and a lighthearted punch back at the “Something in the Orange” singer. In a stitched video from the following day, Wednesday, February 11, he filmed himself enthusiastically putting chili and cheese on two foot-long hot dogs and, of course, double-fisting them. Following the prompt of Bryan’s song, he acts along, itching himself with the hot dog, throwing relish around, staining his shirt, and ultimately jamming along with the wildly unserious lyrics.

Mumbling through his chews, Gilbert ends the video saying, “That’s a good song.” Proving he could go tit for tat, he then pokes fun at Bryan’s previous petty altercation with Gavin Adock. Refencing the moment when Bryan awkwardly hopped a fence to fight Adock outside an Oklahoma festival, Gilbert adds, “He can climb all the fences he wants, he’s not getting my chili dog, not happening.”

Given the mass success of Aldean’s RIAA-certified, four-times-platinum track, this completely unbothered, yet subtly mocking response was the perfect way to handle the “food fight.” With many Zach Bryan fans admitting in the comments that the song is incredibly catchy, it only reinforces the strength of the original production. Meanwhile, Gilbert’s fans rallied behind him, posting remarks like, “He is barking up the wrong tree. Brantley is about that smoke,” and “BG pullin a 50 type petty.” As Zach Bryan continues to harp on the Super Bowl drama, one thing is certain: Bryan won’t be getting any of Gilbert’s dogs anytime soon.
