After kicking off on April 30th in Salt Lake City, Utah, Post Malone’s Big A** Stadium Tour has been one of the premier set of shows of the year so far. Bringing along both Sierra Ferrell, Jelly Roll and Chandler Walters as opening acts, Post has taken his talents to the likes of San Antonio, Atlanta, St. Louis and Las Vegas over the past couple weeks.
With no surprise guests from either Post, Ferrell or Jelly Roll throughout the tour’s previous seven shows, this weekend’s stop in Detroit seemed to be a fairly standard set of affairs. That all changed during Jelly Roll’s set.
After warming up the crowd with hits such as “Liar,” “I Am Not Okay” and his double platinum hit, “Need A Favor,” the rapper turned country star brought out none other than Detroit native and rap legend, Eminem, for a surprise performance of his certified-diamond hit, “Lose Yourself.”
At first, it seemed as if Jelly Roll was simply honoring the Detroit native with the performance, handling the opening lines of the song by himself. That all changed when Shady himself stepped on the stage at Ford Field along with a deafening roar from the crowd.
Eminem, donning his signature hoodie pulled up over his hat, strutted on stage and joined Jelly Roll for what can only be described as one of the biggest surprise collaborations of the year, delivering an electric performance of his signature hit.
This isn’t the first time the pair have collaborated in concert, however. Last July during the “Live From Detroit: The Concert at Michigan Central” show, a night dedicated to the renovation of Michigan Central, the duo teamed up for a performance of Eminem’s 2002 smash hit, “Sing for the Moment.” The “Save Me” singer would later describe the show as the“wildest moment of my career.”
