Yeah…I’m gonna need about twenty more installments of Koe Wetzel’s recent Vevo Studio performance.
Earlier today, the 34-year-old Texas native dropped a surprise rendition of “When I’m Gone,” and the crispness of the audio is on a whole different level. Bringing the Night Champion single to the Vevo Studios in New York, which, as someone very fittingly pointed out in the comment section, could easily pass for the backrooms, Wetzel delivered a stunning rendition of the album’s fourth track alongside just one other guitarist from his band.
And fitting for this fresh era following the release of his June album, there’s no denying Koe looks just as good as he sounds. Between his dedicated workout routine and the slower-paced lifestyle he’s embraced as a father and soon-to-be husband, he looks noticeably refreshed and arguably sounds even better. With that being said, I can’t help but mention how absolutely refreshed and rich his vocals sound in this stripped-down video.
If I had to guess, the performance was most likely filmed back in early August when Koe took the stage on the rooftop at Pier 17, but I’m hoping it was more than just a quick pop-in stop and that there’s still more to come from this session. While it’s a stretch to even ask for this to be released on streaming, I’d just like to let it be known that if it ever were…it’d go multi-platinum in my household.
Luckily, while I patiently wait for more Vevo videos to drop, I’m still holding out hope that Koe has more new music coming before the end of the year. After all, in addition to his bonus Ella Langley duet, “Jaded,” fans were also promised another deluxe collaboration track on the way, which many believed could feature Stephen Wilson Jr.
With about a month left of touring for the “High Road” singer, hopefully it drops soon before he wraps up his time on the road on October 30 in Lubbock, Texas. Koe will also hit the stage this Wednesday, Sept. 30, in Rogers, Arkansas, followed by three more stops in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Kansas.
