A fitting song choice for a night of remembrance…
Last night, Lainey Wilson joined a special group of performers as the nation marked 25 years since the terrorist attacks that claimed exactly 2,977 lives on September 11, 2001.
Tackling a song that has long been associated with moments of mourning, Wilson performed “Amazing Grace” during the ABC 9/11 Tribute in Manhattan, a one hour special broadcast live from New York City honoring those who lost their lives while also recognizing survivors, first responders, and families who lives were forever changed that day.
Lainey took the stage at the base of the twin beams illumination that lit up the sky where the towers once stood. This time however, she traded in her bell bottoms for a black suit and was joined by a choir for support.
She took to social media after the performance with this to say:
“25 years later, I had the honor of performing in NYC at the base of the iconic beams where the Twin Towers stood and where nearly 3,000 people lost their lives. A night I’ll never forget. God Bless America”
Twenty-five years later, and we’ll still never forget. The entire event is available to stream on Hulu and Disney+. Watch Lainey’s performance here:
