New LB.
Today, Luke Bryan released a new single and the third taste from his upcoming album, “Southern and Slow.”
Written by Matt Dragstrem, Josh Thompson, and Chase McGill, Luke returns with a sound reminiscent of I Don’t Want This Night To End that’s reflective of what helped him remain so popular in years past and if I’m being honest, this is right where Luke’s lane is for a radio single.
Obviously, this sounds nothing like Rain Is A Good Thing era, but Luke’s singles have been extremely hit or miss lately (or just corny) and Southern and Slow gives you a fresh new taste of an already familiar sound, no matter how cliche some of the lyrics are.
While Luke’s reference of needing a station that’ll “play Jones and Merle and Waylon” sounds disingenuous, the upbeat summer anthem reflects on the simpler times as life seems to be moving faster than ever. Luke had this say about the new tune:
“Those picture-perfect moments like the sun setting behind a water tower, honey dripping off a spoon, well, it doesn’t get much country’er than that. Let’s slow it down southern style.”
