After a long history of being a supporter of the LGBTQ+ community, the 5x CMA Award winner, Maren Morris, officially announced that she is a member of the community, coming out as bi-sexual in a recent Instagram post.
Morris took to social media yesterday to share tour photos taken by photographer, Muriel Margaret, with the caption “happy to be the B in LGBTQ+ / happy pride “
The “80s Mercedes” singer received an outpouring of support from fellow artists in her Instagram comments since posting. Texas singer/songwriter, Allison Ponthier, commented “HAPPY PRIDE!!!!! thanks for being an inspiration and what a special pride this one is 🏳️🌈🤍.”
As mentioned previously, Morris has been an advocate for the LGBTQ+ community for years, most famously clashing with fellow country star Jason Aldean’s wife, Brittany Aldean.
In September of 2022, Morris took issue with Brittany’s comments on her Instagram that read “I’d really like to thank my parents for not changing my gender when I went through my tomboy phase. I love this girly life,” which prompted her to appear on Tucker Carlson Tonight. On the former Fox News show, Carlson referred to Morris as a “lunatic” and a “fake country music singer.”
In response to Carlson, Morris released a t-shirt mocking the political commentator, noting that all sales of the shirt would go to Trans Lifeline and Glaad, a non-profit LGBTQ advocacy organization. The shirt, which contains the queer Support & Crisis Hotline for trans youth, is still available on her website today.

It should also be noted that Morris was reportedly leaving country music in an interview with the LA Times back in November of 2023, saying “I’ve kind of said everything I can say [in the genre].”
However, she clarified later that she was not completely done with the genre in a sit-down with USA Today, “That was the headline. Actually, what I said was I’m leaving behind the sort of toxic parts of it. I want to take the good parts with me.”
