With Megan Moroney’s upcoming album, Cloud 9, set to release in just two days, the “Tennessee Orange” singer celebrated with an intimate performance alongside a few special guests.
In true Nashville mixing pot fashion, iHeart Country hosted an event last night, February 17, featuring Moroney, Kane Brown, and Christian artist Brandon Lake. A clip shared by Wichita’s 102.1 The Bull shows the trio seated on stools across a low-key stage, delivering a stripped-down rendition of Moroney’s October 2025 single, “Beautiful Things.”
The heartfelt track, inspired by Moroney’s younger niece, was one of the first few singles to be released ahead of the album’s announcement. Co-written alongside Jessi Alexander, Jessie Jo Dillon, Conne Harrington, and produced by Sugarland’s Kristian Bush, the empowering ballad has since surpassed over 20 million streams on Spotify alone.
During the night, Moroney performed her other hits, including the radio chart topper, “6 Months Later,” and the title track from her previous 2024 album, Am I Okay? Brandon Lake also solo performed his recent country crossover hit with Cody Johnson, “When A Cowboy Prays,” along with Kane Brown delivering a performance of “Good As You.”
Lake recently teased on social media that he will continue to lean into country music with a full Christian country collaboration album. So far, he’s hinted at tracks with artists like Thomas Rhett, Lainey Wilson, Hardy, and more, but there’s a part of me that’s secretly hoping last night’s crossover will spark a Megan Moroney worship song with Lake someday.
This certainly won’t be the last small-scale performance like this for Moroney before she heads out on the official Cloud 9 tour in late May. The Georgian singer-songwriter announced last weekend that starting Friday, February 20, in honor of the album’s launch, she will be heading out on a miniature 9 cities in 9 days tour across the US. Playing an intimate acoustic performance of 3 songs every night, the ultimate kicker for the abbreviated tour is that tickets will go on sale the morning of at the box office for just $9.
For those unable to make it to one of these short stops spanning from New York to Arizona, Moroney’s 44 dates of the official Cloud 9 Arena tour will continue throughout October.
