What a year for Morgan Wallen.
As we approach the mid-way point of December, the year-end stats have been dominating the news cycle, and speaking of domination, Morgan not only had the most-streamed album of 2025 on Apple Music AND Spotify, he was also crowned Billboard’s Top Artist of the Year, an honor no male country artist has received since Garth Brooks over 30 years ago.
And today, the 32 year-old superstar received a whopping 50 new RIAA certifications, officially surpassing Luke Combs (who recently passed Garth Brooks), to become the highest-selling country artist of all time with 265.5 million units.
And if that isn’t enough, he also becomes the third highest certified artist, all-genre, just behind Taylor Swift (247.5 million) and Drake (331.5 million).
Included in the 50 new RIAA certs are five singles certified diamond or higher. Further diving into what goes into the criteria, when an artist receives a gold certification, it means the single or album has sold at least 500,000 units since its release, while a platinum cert means it has sold at least 1 million. As for diamond, a song or record must sell 10 million units.
As for what constitutes a unit, one paid download or 150 on-demand streams of a given song will count towards a unit sold. As for albums, three separate criteria can be met to constitute as a unit sold. The three are as follows:
- 1,500 on-demand audio and/or video streams from the album
- A permanent digital album or physical album sale
- 10 permanent track downloads from the album
The singles certified diamond or higher by the Recording Industry Association of America are as followed:
- Heartless (10x platinum/diamond)
- Chasin’ You (10x platinum/diamond)
- Wasted On You (12x platinum)
- Last Night (12x platinum)
- Whiskey Glasses (13x platinum)
