If you wanted to know what Morgan Wallen was up to the morning after he got arrested for public intoxication and disorderly conduct on Broadway, apparently he spent the day hanging out with Kid Rock and belting Keith Whitley.
Now, the first half of that itinerary is not necessarily ‘new’ news, considering back in May 2020, when the situation went down, Wallen and Kid Rock posted a photo of themselves making amends at his Big A** Honky Tonky Bar. On that fateful May 23 night, Wallen found himself getting kicked out of Kid Rock’s Nashville bar around 11 p.m. after allegedly breaking glass and getting into several verbal altercations on the street. The rowdy night ultimately landed him behind bars, though he was released after posting a $500 bond (which, for Wallen nowadays, is practically pocket change).
But Kid Rock, who certainly knows a thing or two about rowdy behavior himself, apparently held no hard feelings. In fact, he welcomed Wallen back to the bar with open arms the very next day, even posing for a selfie that the “Whiskey Glasses” singer fittingly captioned “Fresh Out.”
And clearly, the incident didn’t put a damper on their friendship. The two have remained on good terms over the years, with Wallen even bringing out the Michigan native during his walkout at his August 2025 show in Cleveland

Oddly enough, thanks to an Emmy-nominated documentary filmmaker, we now have another glimpse into Wallen’s post-jail linkup with Kid Rock from over six years ago. Adam Bhala Lough, the man behind rapper Lil Wayne’s documentary The Carter, recently took to Instagram to showcase a clip “From My Vault” showcasing Wallen hanging out with Rock on May 24.
In the footage, seemingly captured just hours after Wallen was released from jail that morning, the then-26-year-old singer can be heard casually belting out an a cappella rendition of Keith Whitley’s staple hit “Kentucky Bluebird.” Meanwhile, Kid Rock, legally known as Robert Ritchie, stands beside him, cigarette in hand, stoically enjoying the impromptu performance.
Now, I have no idea what prompted Wallen to break into a 30-second rendition of the country classic, or why the documentary filmmaker happened to be there capturing the moment in the first place. But judging by Wallen’s giggling afterward, he seemed to be having a pretty good time, despite the previous night’s events.
As for Lough, he vaguely explained in his caption, “What’s interesting about this footage is that Morgan had just been arrested the night before in downtown Nashville and released from jail early that morning; later that day he’s sitting here singing Keith Whitley.” Adding, “I’ve had this footage sitting in my vault for over six years figured it was time to share it.”
Makes you wonder just how many other hidden gems Lough has tucked away in his vault. And if you needed any more proof of Wallen’s notoriously carefree, couldn’t-give-two-sh*ts attitude, I’d say him casually singing his heart out just hours after getting released from jail pretty much tells you everything you need to know
