“Why won’t you call me the kid?”
Despite just kicking off his Burn It Down tour last week in Edinburg, Texas, Parker McCollum hasn’t stopped giving fans new content. Today, the “Pretty Heart” singer took to YouTube to release a brand new, acoustic version of the fan-favorite track, “High Above Water.”
Written independently by McCollum, “High Above Water” appears on his debut 2015 album, The Limestone Kid, and has remained a fan-favorite ’til this day despite not being played regularly at his recent shows.
The performance was uploaded exclusively to Apple Music in September of 2023 along with an acousitc version of his current #1 hit at country radio, “Burn It Down,” and a cover of Tom Petty’s classic, “American Girl.” Today, however, the performance video was released on both Youtube and Spotify.
These acoustic videos ultimately showcase the versatile nature of the Texan singer/songwriter as an artist and performer. Though his shows are usually high-energy complete with pyrotechnics and McCollum navigating the stage, he has a certain amount of poise and presence simply sitting down with no guitar during this performance.
McCollum recently tweeted about his upcoming fifth studio album, adding that he believes it’s his best work since his aforementioned debut record, The Limestone Kid:
As mentioned previously, he is currently on tour with Corey Kent, Chayce Beckham and a plethora of other artists. You can view the full tour dates here.
