Peytan Porter Puts on First Headlining Performance, “The Road to Grown,” Announces Grand Ole Opry Debut on May 10

Coming on the heels of her Tortuga Music Festival performance in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, budding country star Peytan Porter booked her first two headlining gigs — one in Nashville, Tennessee and one in Atlanta, Georgia — for a super special set of shows called “The Road To Grown.” She shared via Instagram on February 12, “Announcing… ✨THE ROAD TO GROWN ✨ I’m SO excited to celebrate my new EP, Grown, by playing my FIRST EVER HEADLINING SHOWS in the 2 states that bookend my journey as an artist up to this point — Georgia, where I grew up, and Tennessee, where I’ve been growing for the last 6 years 🥹🤍😭”

During these performances, Porter planned to sing some tunes from her newest EP, Grown — which hit all music streaming services on March 1 and features the tracks “Lemonade,” “God’s Hotel,” “High Road,” “Speaking of Georgia,” “Grown” and “Run the Radio” — as well as some of her older songs, some country covers and more. With the first of these two shows taking place yesterday (April 17) at The Basement in the one and only Music City, it is safe to say that the 26-year-old did not disappoint…

The show began with a set of songs by talented singer/songwriter Jason Nix. Making all attendees grin from ear-to-ear with jokes about his fogged up glasses and luscious locks, he simultaneously blew the crowd away with his stellar singing skills, taking place just moments before the Georgia Native took the stage.

Shortly afterwards, Porter arrived in a scarf top, some black boots and some black denim shorts — as well as funky jewelry and other accessories to enhance the overall look — looking like a true superstar behind the mic. Singing soon-to-be smash hits off of Grown, from “High Road” to “Speaking of Georgia” to “Run the Radio” and beyond, the rising country star dominated the stage from start to finish, making a super special announcement during the middle of her set.

“A few weeks ago, I got a call from a buddy of mine named Ashley McBryde. I mean, we’re friends, but we’re not friends to where you like call randomly, and she called me, and we caught up, and she said, ‘Peytan Porter, would you do us the honor of making your Grand Ole Opry debut?’ So I’m playing the Opry,” the songstress explained onstage, choking back tears. “For any of you who know me really well, you know that I came here, and I’ve got a lot of dreams, and they get bigger every day the more I’m here. That was one of them that I brought with me in my car from Georgia, and so May 10th, if you’re around, it’s my wedding day with country music.”

Visibly emotional from this surreal moment — one that she had been dreaming of since moving to Nashville, Tennessee after her high school graduation — Porter dove into a much more emotional segment of her show, singing songs like “Grown,” as well as a cover of “Record Year” by one of her favorite artists of all time, Eric Church. To follow, she brought Jason Nix and The Band Loula onstage to sing duets, respectively, as her performance began to come to a close.

Ending the show with “Therapy” and “God’s Hotel,” arguably her most popular tunes, Porter left all attendees wondering the same thing: How is she not already a superstar? Needless to say, the first half of her “The Road To Grown” set of shows was nothing short of sensational — solidifying her spot as a force to be reckoned with within the country music community — and we can already tell that her Atlanta, Georgia performance will be equally as spectacular.
