Can’t think of anyone more deserving.
Just recently, it was announced that Toby Keith will be receiving the first ever Country Icon Award at the inaugural 2023 People’s Choice Country Awards.
The awards show will be hosted by Little Big Town, with Blake Shelton in attendance to present Toby with the award at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville.
“We’re overjoyed to honor legendary artist Toby Keith with the first-ever Country Icon Award,” Cassandra Tryon, senior vice president of entertainment live events for NBCUniversal Television, says. She continues with…
“As a talented songwriter and powerhouse performer, Keith has touched the hearts of fans across the globe. His illustrious career and passion for philanthropy has cemented his place as an icon in Country music history.”
No one in their right mind would dispute that Toby Keith has had multiple hits in Country music for decades, solidifying himself as a household name within the genre. However, he’s hardly ever included in the conversation of the greatest Country singers of all time. While he’s certainly one of the richest, Toby has had some of the most influential and timeless classics in every decade since his career began in 1993.
