I should’ve known by this young man’s mullet that he’d steal the show.
“Paint Me A Birmingham” singer and podcast host, Tracy Lawrence popped into Erie, Pennsylvania this past week for a stop on his 2026 No Alibis Tour, and boy was the crowd in for the treat. It’s no secret that Lawrence is a big supporter of the rising class of country music stars, highlighting many budding careers on TL’s roadhouse.
The ’90s staple is also a pretty big supporter of keeping good ‘ole country music alive. Hence why, when he invited up one pearl-snap, brass buckle-wearing young man on stage at Thursday night’s show (October 15), he surely found his match. Lawrence brought up the young fan named Blake from the crowd at Warner Theatre, allowing him to share the stage for Joe Diffie’s iconic hit, “Pickup Man.”
While it’s pretty damn impressive that a kid his age even knows that song, the fact that he was able to perform it to a room of thousands of fans is even more insane. Within the first minute of being on stage, he already had the crowd wrapped around his finger, shaking Tracy’s hand with a firm handshake and confidently telling the crowd, “c’mon, let’s get rowdy up in here tonight, put your drinks in the air.”
Blake proceeded to take the lead on the 1994 hit from the late legend, evoking the same energy as someone’s drunk dad at a karaoke bar on a Tuesday night, popping out his best moves and strong vocals as he walked back and forth on stage. Lawrence, laughing at the impressive performance, was too chuffed to even join in, letting him shine.
After the first chorus, the young fan wasn’t leaving the stage without getting the whole venue involved, yelling at everyone, “Any of you guys know the words to this song? Sing along, cmon, come on stand up, people.” If getting reprimanded by a 12-year-old boy for not being hype enough ain’t a wake-up call, I don’t know what is.
He even showed off his stage presence by pointing the microphone toward the crowd, encouraging them to sing along, before Lawrence joined him for the second half. Following the performance, Blake extended his gratitude to Lawrence for the opportunity, commenting underneath the viral TikTok.

He, of course, also posted the moment to his own page, with his growing fan base of internet users hyping him up in the comment section, with many joking about his undeniably old soul:

If we don’t see this kid headlining his own show in a few years, I fear we’ve failed the youth. As for Lawrence and his never-aging voice, he only has three more shows for the year, lined up this weekend in Wisconsin, Ohio, and Indiana.
